We are looking for a skilled Research Scientist to join our Materials Science team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the research and development of our polymer materials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Apply principles and know-how from polymer science and materials fabrication to understand structure / property relationships
  • Independently design, conduct and analyze experiments
  • Develop new formulations for improved performance and reduced cost by sourcing and screening alternative raw ingredients
  • Perform cost-performance analysis for various formulations developed
  • Keep a pulse on new commercial product offerings that may be of benefit to our technology platforms.
  • Regularly communicate externally with vendors to understand new commercial product offerings, procure samples, and evaluate at lab-scale in our technologies
  • Communicate results, conclusions and recommendations to colleagues and leadership
  • Acquire and maintain relevant technical expertise in material science, polymer characterization and biomaterials
  • Mentor research associates and work closely with other researchers in the group

Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Advanced degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Polymer Science
  • 6-8 years of experience in polymer materials, polymer physics, morphology and rheology
  • The candidates should have a thorough understanding of structure/property relationships of materials
  • Ability to mentor researchers and lead a research project independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Goal oriented, motivated, and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with processing polymer films and coatings for textile applications (nice to have)
  • Experience with formulation development for polymer coatings systems (nice to have)
