We are currently seeking an experienced Pilot Plant Technician to provide support for our Process Technology Engineering division. This person's responsibilities will include providing leadership and overall expertise to pilot plant activities. In addition, this individual will schedule and execute formulation processing, document results, develop reports, and propose follow-up actions to engineers. Lastly, this person will maintain procedures, equipment, and facilities in the pilot plant.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operation of pilot scale equipment to manufacture goods for research & development and production
  • Attend production campaigns at manufacturing facilities to ensure proper tech transfer of processes from pilot plant to commercial scale manufacturing
  • Work with scientists, engineers, and fellow technicians to develop processes for the new products being developed and establish SOPs for them
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures set forth in the SOPs
  • Effective communication with scientists, engineers and fellow technicians to ensure optimal decision-making and execution of experiments and production campaigns
  • Work with Supply Chain for inventory control of raw materials and manufactured goods
  • Responsible for documentation and batch records related to the experiments and production
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area; routine maintenance, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment
  • Troubleshoot rapidly and effectively to ensure minimal downtime
  • Proper safe handling of disposable waste from the facility

Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, and other relevant fields.
  • Prior industrial experience in manufacturing setting or continuous production lines is a plus (e.g. coatings, finishing, and roll-to-roll manufacturing)
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and implementing changes to the existing processes based on the customer requirements.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical malfunction of equipment.
  • High level of organization skills, good written and oral communication skills; must be able to respond to verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work towards meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed.
  • Basic computer skills are a must.
  • Being flexible to accommodate external and internal production schedules occasionally
  • Strong team player and good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, passionate about your work, and enthusiastic about contributing to building a positive team spirit.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. unassisted, as well as stand, reach and climb steps etc.
