About the Role:
To complement the Mend Medical Director in building and deploying a telehealth medical practice, Mend is hiring a Medical Practice Administrator. with management, analytical, and executive experience. This “dyad model”, combining clinical and executive skills, will be essential to guiding the growth of a high quality, effective, cost efficient, diverse, and regulatory compliant care delivery organization. The Practice Administrator will be integral to ensuring the Mend Physician Services, PLLC’s status as a top-tier, nationwide virtual care delivery organization.
Open to candidates in NYC or remotely, this position demands strategic leadership and hands-on management in a fast-paced, innovative healthcare environment. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement in patient care, and readiness for occasional travel to the Company’s headquarters and healthcare partner sites.
Responsibilities:
- Drive execution against existing care plans and own development of new care plans: Own care plan development and optimization (people, process, and technology); collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to create comprehensive remote patient monitoring care plans for patients across several areas (e.g. orthopedics, trauma, oncology, primary care).
- Manage operations of the medical practice and telehealth programs: Design, establish, and maintain operations processes and procedures, both clinical and administrative (e.g. escalation procedures and triage, patient journey workflows, intake, and evaluation processes, change management); Ensure compliance with multiple state and federal regulatory requirements and company policies; Implement systems and processes for metrics reporting and dashboards related to process and care outcomes
- Drive financial performance of the medical practice: Accountable to P&L to drive top-line growth via increased patient volume and billable activities aligning with improved care; Support RCM process development to drive revenue
- Manage staffing, training, and oversight of care team: Along with the Medical Director and other leadership, support staffing strategy and performance management, including staff oversight, mentorship, and performance reviews; build and mentor a team of high performing clinical professionals and develop team members, fostering a culture of open communication and excellence in care; develop and oversee training programs for clinical staff.
- Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement: Assist with achieving clinical quality metrics and work closely with clinical staff to identify and implement product and process improvements
- Oversee compliance and licensing activities: In coordination with the Mend legal team and support operations, ensure that the Mend Physician Services, PLLC and its constituent clinicians are compliant with Federal and state laws and regulations; Oversee and manage relationships with credentialing/licensing partners to ensure proper care team licensing and contracting
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience building and overseeing medical practices (ideally virtual/telehealth), thrives in a startup environment
- 5+ years experience managing large clinical teams
- The ability to work independently to manage projects across disciplines (care delivery, clinical design, RCM, administrative, etc.)
- Comfort with a virtual-first environment and working with technology
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards, integration approaches, and business requirements
- Project management expertise and experience with project management software like Jira
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of management experience in a clinical setting.
- Experience managing care delivery team(s) of nurses and medical assistants
- Strong familiarity with telehealth infrastructure and digital health tools.
- Experience demonstrating a high-level ability to effectively manage and allocate organization resources is required
- Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Single or multi-specialty private practice experience
- Experience in orthopedics, neurosurgery, oncology, or primary care.
- Operational management experience such as budgeting, financial management, credentialing, and contracting
